Position DescriptionTITLE: Director of Family Ministry
REPORTS TO: Pastor of the Christ the King
SALARY GRADE: This position requires 15 hours a week.

POSITION SUMMARY
The director of family ministry, in close partnership with the leadership of Christ the King, works to ensure that families grow in their knowledge and love of the Lord. Primary responsibilities will include oversight of and responsibility for Sunday morning children’s program; establishing meaningful connections in our community and developing ministries that serve the entire family.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Family Ministry will:
1) Build relationship with parents and children.
2) Act as a resource to parents on family issues/challenges.
3) Build relationship with local school and related civic leaders.
4) Oversees the Sunday morning children’s programming.
a) Hire, manage, and administer paid child care providers for preschool and nursery.
b) Lead Children’s Church programming through self-written or prepared curriculum as reviewed by church leadership.
c) Employ excellent creativity and enthusiasm to ensure an effective, Biblically-based program.
d) Identify and train gifted parishioners to assist in the work of Sunday morning worship.
e) Establish Family events and programming to engage and minister to our parents and families as a whole.
5) Manage and administer the vision for the discipleship and growth of families at Christ the King.
6) Establish the ground work for special events (i.e. Summer Camp, other seasonal events).
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
1. A clear, personal and mature relationship with Jesus Christ expressed in a vibrant life of worship, study, and prayer.
2. An infectious love for families and children and an excitement to see both mature in Christ.
3. A ‘team player’ and able to work with and lead a large number of volunteers.
4. Proven track record of delegation and deploying volunteers in the work of the church.
5. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
6. Creativity and flexibility with lay-leaders, volunteers, fellow ministry leaders, and parents.
7. Bachelor’s degree as well as experience in related field.
